The Relaxation of the Six-Hour Curfew Continues From 8 am to 2 pm – KNSG

The Kano State Government has announced an extension of the six-hour relaxation of the curfew, which will now run from 8am to 2pm. This decision will be in effect on Monday and for the foreseeable future. The state Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, explained that this move follows a careful review of the curfew and the challenges faced by the community.

Dantiye highlighted the government’s primary concern: the security of lives and properties. He assured the public that the curfew would continue to be assessed regularly. As the security situation evolves, the government is committed to making further adjustments as necessary.

The curfew was initially imposed for 24 hours in response to the violence that erupted during the #EndBadGovernance protests. However, recognizing the difficulties this posed for residents, authorities decided to relax the restrictions to allow for a brief period of normalcy each day.

The six-hour relaxation from 8am to 2pm aims to enable citizens to conduct their daily activities and manage their businesses effectively. This adjustment is seen as a necessary step to support the community while still prioritizing safety.

In addition to the curfew updates, Commissioner Dantiye extended condolences from the state governor, Abba Yusuf, to the families of those who lost their lives during the protests. This gesture underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its citizens during these challenging times.
