Customs CG Names New Management Team.

In light of the recent statutory retirement of several members of the management team at the Nigeria Customs Service, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has made significant management appointments in an acting capacity. This decision aims to ensure continuity and effective leadership within the organization.

Adeniyi emphasized that these new appointments are part of a strategic redeployment designed to enhance service delivery across the board. The goal is to improve efficiency and responsiveness within the service, ultimately benefiting stakeholders and the public.

The details of these appointments were shared in a statement issued on Friday by Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service. The announcement underscores the importance of these changes in the context of the service’s ongoing operations.

Adeniyi provided a detailed breakdown of the new appointments, highlighting BM Jibo’s new role as the Deputy Comptroller-General responsible for finance administration and technical services. This position is crucial for overseeing financial processes and ensuring that technical operations align with the service’s objectives.

In addition to Jibo’s appointment, several other key roles were filled. OA Alajogun has been appointed as the acting Deputy Comptroller-General for enforcement, inspection, and investigation. Meanwhile, IG Umar will serve as the acting Assistant Comptroller-General at headquarters.

Furthermore, OA Salefu has taken on the role of acting Assistant Comptroller-General for training and doctrine command, while BA Makinde will act as the Assistant Comptroller-General for human resource development. Timi Bomodi has also been appointed as the acting Assistant Comptroller-General for enforcement, inspection, and investigation.

While expressing gratitude to the retired members of the management team for their dedicated service, Adeniyi encouraged the newly appointed officers. He urged them to intensify their efforts to help the Nigeria Customs Service reach new heights in its critical mandates, including revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation.

In conclusion, these management changes are poised to strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service’s operational framework, ensuring that it remains responsive to the challenges and demands of its mandate. The leadership transition is not only a reflection of the organization’s resilience but also its commitment to continuous improvement.
